This scenario has the IP PBX - or more usually, an allocated part of an IP PBX - ‘dedicated’ for a company’s use; the fundamental difference is that the equipment is managed externally by a third party in a data centre.
A hosted solution means that there is no IP PBX hardware on the customer’s premises. Only phones (and on occasion routers / switches) reside at the client’s site.
Again, in addition a number of technical and geographical considerations, hosted IP PBX’s may be suited to those who prefer operational expenditure over capital expenditure.
