The death knell for ISDN…?
A recent report, ‘VoIP Services and Subscribers’ published by Infonetics Research, showed that the consumer market had embraced making calls via the internet much quicker than the business market.
The report believed that this is set to change as the barriers for adoption are being removed. One such barrier was cited as being the lack of SIP trunking interfaces (the ability to make calls via the internet) on IP PBX equipment and the ability of providers to source suitable and compatibility tested SIP trunking provision.
Keeping voice traffic “in IP format” from the business, through the service provider and beyond increases efficiency and brings greater benefits such as reduced call costs and the reduced recurring expenditure of ISDN channels.
Here at 500, we have only ever offered SIP trunking services that have been fully compatibly tested with the IP PBX system we provide, be it premises-based or hosted telephony. We are pleased that the industry is following suit!
