500 Business Grade IP Telephony

Mac OS X Compatibility

Despite the steady growth in IP telephony uptake, there is ‘PC bias’ to the technology and programs - that is, until recently.

It seems that IP telephony (VoIP) manufacturers are starting to realise the untapped potential in a rapidly advancing Mac market.

Premises-based IP telephony technology…

Our best of breed IP PBX supplier, Zultys, provide a common platform for Windows, Unix and Apple Mac OS users. Interestingly, Zultys admit that just 2% of their customers have all Macs, but 20% of have one or more Macs.

As a forward thinking and reputable IP telephony manufacturer, Zultys has long supported previous Motorola processor based Mac generations but their newer releases adds advanced interoperability with newer Intel-powered Mac clients. For example, Mac users can now run instances of the user client application (’MXIE’) in both a standard Mac environment and also in virtualised environments on Mac OS X ‘Leopard’ and ‘Snow Leopard’ using, for example, Parallels and VM Ware.

Zultys is the only converged Intel Mac solution that is standards based. The same product also runs on Windows XP, Windows Vista and Windows 7 with the same look, feel and functionality. It has also introduced its MXIE client to mobile handsets and currently supports the iPhone and Blackberry phones.

It is rare to find an IP telephony client application to function equally well on both a Mac and PC environment but MXIE does this exceedingly well. MXIE is the primary user tool for accessing (integrating with) the Zultys IP PBX system (referred to ‘MX’ systems) user-based services such as individual call handling rules, initiating and managing calls, changing presence, viewing the presence of other users, binding to any phone / device, when hot-desking, and access to an address book, call log, incoming faxes, call recordings, voice mails and more - all from one intuitive and easy to use multi-platform interface.

Below are screenshot examples of MXIE functioning in native Mac and PC environments:
