Client Application

MXIE is the client application which runs on a PC or Mac that interfaces with the MX30 or MX250. All personnel may use MXIE whether they are logged in as an individual, an operator, or a member of a hunt group.

MXIE is a phenomenally useful tool and once use is often regarded as indispensible. Users can configure their presence and view the presence of others, send instant messages, set call handling rules, access voice mail and fax mail, make and terminate calls, and bind the application to a phone.

Presence

Presence is an indication of the current state of a user, such as available or busy. Other users within the business may see that presence and be able to take action based upon it, in addition to automatic call handling based upon presence.

Call Handling, Voicemail & Faxmail

The call handling rules editor within MXIE allows users to configure actions to be taken by the MX30 or MX250 for incoming calls on a per user basis.

The rules are flexible and may be based upon presence, date and time, calling party number – or a combination of each. MXIE allows a user to configure the system to transfer calls to a number outside the business, e.g.: a mobile phone.

To take some examples: a user sets their presence to ‘At Lunch’ so all calls are diverted to voicemail. Or a user may wish calls from 6.00 p.m. to 7.00 p.m. to diverted to their mobile phone whilst they are on their train journey home but after 7.00 p.m. calls should be diverted to voicemail until the morning. All of this is quickly and easily achievable via MXIE.

Users may access voice mail either from their phone or MXIE (or, if required, via a .WAV audio file attachment to Microsoft Outlook emails). With MXIE, a voicemail message may be played on the PC (listening to a call may also be via the phone earpiece for privacy and so as not to disturb colleagues), saved to a folder, re-attached to an email, or forwarded to another user. Similarly, personnel can access faxmail on their PC and print, copy, and forward to others.

Users can log in at any PC or Mac to MXIE, bind to a phone and then receive calls at that location. For example, a half-day meeting is taking place in the conference room but two participants must answer an urgent call should it arrive: they may both bind to the phone in the conference room and the phone display will indicate which user is receiving a call.

Messaging

MXIE’s instant messaging allows users to communicate using text based messages in real time. The administrator can control whether or not messages exit the company LAN / WAN and whether or not MXIE’s instant messaging is seamlessly interfaced to other messaging clients such as MSN or Yahoo Messenger. Users can also initiate chat sessions and chat conferences.
